아부다비에 있는 에미레이트 팰리스 호텔은 2005년부터 2020년까지 켐핀스키 그룹이 운영하였으며, 그 후 2020년에 만다린 오리엔탈 그룹이 인수하였다. 2023년 2월부터는 에미레이트 팰리스 만다린 오리엔탈 아부다비로 공식 론칭되었다.

아부다비 국제공항에서 약 30여분 정도 떨어져 있다. 코니쉬 로드를 따라 가다보면 오른쪽에는 자이드 빈 술탄 알 나하얀에 대한 창립자 기리비물 "창립자 메모리얼"과 왼쪽에는 ADNOC 본부가 근처에 있다.

이 호텔은 만다린과 오리엔탈 두 날개로 구분되어 있다. 아부다비 전체에서 미셸랭 스타를 받은 레스토랑은 총 3곳뿐인데, 이 중 두 곳인 하카산과 안토니오 귀다의 Talea가 에미레이트 팰리스 호텔 내에 있다.

메타젤리스는 메타젤리스 홀더와 함께 아랍에미리트 두바이와 아부다비 곳곳을 여행중이다. 아부다비에서 가장 유명하고 쉐이크 자히드 빈 술탄 알 나하얀의 초상화가 있는 에미레이트 팰리스 호텔에 다녀왔다.

자히드 빈 술탄 알 나하얀(1918~2004)은 아랍에미리트의 왕족이자 아랍에미리트 연합의 건국자이다. 1966년에 아부다비의 지도자가 되었으며, 1971년 UAE 연방이 결성된 이래 2004년 그의 사망까지 아랍에미리트의 1대 대통령이자 아부다비의 지도자로서의 역할을 하였다.

 

자히드 빈 술탄 알 나하얀은 자선, 평등, 관대함, 관용과 같은 고귀한 가치의 유산이다. 셰이크 자이드의 명언은 영감의 원천이며 UAE의 다른 지도자들이 자주 언급한다.

그는 아랍에리미트의 ‘국민의 아버지’로 존경받으며 일곱 개의 에리미트(토후국)을 통합한 인물로 칭송받고 있다.

세이크 자히드의 명언은 사회에서 여성이 수행하는 역할에 대해서도 리더십 역할을 맡도록 격려하고 여성을 존엄하게 대하는 것이 중요하다고 강조했다.
